Lax and Phillips scattering theory for neutron transport equation is discussed in \(L^ 1({\mathbb{R}}^ n\times V)\), when the velocity space V is a spherical shell centred on the origin and there exists a compact convex set \(\Omega\) in \({\mathbb{R}}^ n\), such that the absorbing cross section \(\sigma_ a(x,v)\) and producing source function k(x,v,v') are the positive function in \(L^{\infty}({\mathbb{R}}^ n\times V)\) and \(L^{\infty}({\mathbb{R}}^ n\times V\times V)\) having their supports as a function of x in \(\Omega\). No boundary conditions on \(\Omega\) are assumed. The incoming and outgoing subspaces \(D_-\) and \(D_+\) are defined and the Lax and Phillips representation theorem is proved for finite collisions system. Furthermore the Lax and Phillips semigroup Z(T) is defined on \(K=L^ 1(\Omega \times V)\) and it is shown that: i) Z(t) is ultimately compact semigroup. ii) Z(t) is differentiable semigroup. These results determine the location of resonances (eigenmodes) for transport operator and relation between these eigenmodes and the spectrum of the reactor problem.
