    Bezeichnet \(Z_ p\) die Menge aller ganzzahligen zirkulanten (p,p)- Matrizen, so gibt es offenbar zu jeder Primzahl p und allen ganzen x,y ein \(C\in Z_ p\) mit \(\det C=x^ p+y^ p\). Verf. diskutiert vorwiegend die Frage, welche Werte det C bei \(C\in Z_ p\) annehmen kann. Auch wird das Problem hinreichender Bedingungen dafür aufgeworfen, daß ein \(C\in Z_ p\) in der Form \(C_ 1 C'_ 1\) (' bedeutet Transposition) mit \(C_ 1\in Z_ p\) geschrieben werden kann: Es wird vermutet, daß dies möglich ist, wenn C unimodular, symmetrisch und positiv definit ist und auch \({1/2}(p-1)\) Primzahl ist.
