    In einer Arbeit von \textit{N. Kerzmann} und \textit{E. M. Stein} [Math. Ann. 236, 85-93 (1978; Zbl 0419.30012)] wird eine lineare Fredholmsche Integralgleichung zweiter Art (1) \(S=KS\) für den Szegö-Kern des Randes \(\partial \Omega\) eines einfach zusammenhängenden Gebietes \(\Omega\) abgeleitet; die Herleitung verlangt einen glatten Rand \(\partial \Omega\). Schon länger bekannt ist, daß sich die konforme Abbildung f von \(\Omega\) auf den Einheitskreis durch S ausdrücken läßt. In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird vorgeschlagen, die Abbildung f über die numerische Lösung von (1) zu bestimmen. Bei der Diskretisierung von (1) mit der Trapezregel ergibt sich ein lineares Gleichungssystem \((2)\quad (I-B)x=c\) mit schiefhermitescher Matrix B. Es ist \(\| (I-B)^{- 1}\| <1,\) d.h. die direkte Lösung von (1) is numerisch problemlos. Einige Beispiele zeigen die Effektivität der Methode.
