    Die vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit nichtlinearen elliptischen Differentialgleichungen der Form \[ (1)\quad -\nabla \cdot a(\cdot,u,| \nabla u|)\nabla u=f(\cdot,u,\nabla u) \] in einem beschränkten Gebiet \(\Omega \subset {\mathbb{R}}^ m\) mit hinreichend glattem Rand \(\partial \Omega\). Hauptziel ist die Gewinnung von Koerzivitätsabschätzungen für den nichtlinearen Differentialoperator \[ (2)\quad A: u\to -\nabla \cdot a(\cdot,| \nabla u|)\nabla u \] unter geeigneten Wachstumsbedingungen hinsichtlich der Funktion \(a: \Omega\) \(\times {\mathbb{R}}^+\to {\mathbb{R}}\). Unter der Verwendung dieser Ungleichungen sowie der Theorie der monotonen Operatoren und des Schauderschen Fixpunktsatzes werden sodann Existenz- und Eindeutigkeitssätze schwacher Lösungen der zu (1) gehörigen Dirichletschen Randwertaufgabe bewiesen.
