    Every abstract semigroup need not to be embeddable in a compact semigroup. As a first step in this note we deal with the questions: When can the one-point compactification of a locally compact semigroup be a compact topological semigroup and what should be the algebraic nature of the adjoining element? We are able to provide constructions of commutative abstract semigroups whose one-point compactifications are compact topological semigroups. These are, of course, locally compact under discrete topology.
