The paper derives sufficient conditions for asymptotic stability of nonlinear differential equations with a small parameter in a part of the derivatives. It is proved that if the slow and the fast subsystems have Lyapunov functions with certain properties (growth and interconnection type conditions) then the full order system is asymptotically stable when the perturbation parameter lies in an explicitely given interval. As applications, systems that are linear in the fast variables are considered.
