Viscous eddies in the region close to a sharp corner are examined. The asymmetry in their structure that is apparent in numerical solutions for moderate values of the Reynolds number is derived analytically. Some numerical verification of the analytical results is obtained from a study of the driven cavity flow problem for Reynolds numbers in the range 0- 1000.
