The author considers the functional equation \(f(F(x,y))=H(g(x)\), h(y)), where F and H satisfy certain global or local solvability conditions. He proves that topological properties of g imply that f is an open mapping. No assumptions about h are needed. Moreover he gives sufficient conditions for f, g and h to be homeomorphisms.
