For a ring R with 1, the set of equivalence classes (''points'') of \((m+1)\)-tuples is called the projective m-space over R, and denoted by \(P_ m(R)\). Here two \((m+1)\)-tuples \((r_ 1,...,r_{m+1})\) and \((r_ 1',...,r'_{m+1})\) are called equivalent iff there exists an invertible element \(u\in R\) with \(r'_ i=ur_ i\). The authors investigate the projective line \(P_ 1(R)\) over the ring \(R=M_ n({\mathbb{C}})\) of complex \(n\times n\)-matrices. They generalize parts of the Euclidean, the spherical, and the non-Euclidean geometry (of the unit disc), based on a metric on each one of 3 analogous subsets of \(P_ 1(M_ n({\mathbb{C}}))\). The projectivities leaving invariant this metric are investigated.
