Let A and C be \(n\times n\) matrices consisting of fixed and variable parts so that the variable part of A is the \(p\times q\) submatrix in the lower right corner and the fixed part of C is the \(q\times p\) submatrix in the lower right corner \((1\leq p,q<n)\). The authors derive sufficient and necessary conditions for the nonsingularity of A and for the equality \(A^{-1}=C\) in terms of the fixed entries of A and C.
