[For part II, cf. the following review.] The Plebanski metric describes a class of space-time geometries satisfying the combined Einstein-Maxwell equations. This class contains many physically interesting metrics, including the Kerr-Newman black hole and others. This paper generalizes the results of other workers on this class of metrics and computes relevant geometric quantities as well as perturbations.
