Since the appearance of supersymmetry almost ten years ago we have witnessed a very intriguing connection between the supersymmetric algebra and various global questions in differential and algebraic geometry. We present an outline of a proof of the Atiyah-Singer index theorem and its G-index generalization using the properties of supersymmetric quantum mechanical systems.
