The stationary density of homozygosity is obtained for a locus with four possible alleles and symmetric mutation between them. As conjectured by \textit{F. M. Stewart}, ibid. 9, 188-201 (1976; Zbl 0345.92006), this density has spikes at 1/3 and 1/2. The density under heterozygote selection is also given.
