We point out the equivalence of the maximum balanced flow problem of \textit{M. Minoux} [E.D.F.-Bull. de la Direction des Etudes de Recherches; Série C-Mathématiques, Informatique 1, 5-16 (1976)] and the weighted minimax flow problem of \textit{T. Ichimori, H. Ishii} and \textit{T. Nishida} [J. Oper. Res. Soc. Jap. 24, 52-60 (1981; Zbl 0454.90081)]. Some generalizations of the two problems are also suggested.
