If \(\chi\) is an irreducible character of the finite group G, then write \(\rho (\chi)=\) set of prime divisors of \(\chi\) (1). Define \(s(G)=\max \{| \rho (\chi)| |\chi\in Irr(G)\}\). \textit{O. Manz} [J. Algebra 94, 211-255 (1985; Zbl 0596.20007)] studied the groups for which \(s(G)=1\). Define \(\rho (G)=\cup \{\rho (\chi)|\chi\in Irr(G)\}\). So, if G is solvable and \(s(G)=1\) we have \(| \rho (G)| \leq 2.\) The main theorem of this paper is the result, that \(| \rho (G)| \leq s.2^ s\), in case G is solvable and \(s(G)=s\). The author remarks that this bound might not be the best possible, and later it has been proved by \textit{D. Gluck} (to be published) that a quadratic bound for \(| \rho (G)|\) does hold.
