    Let X denote either a finite group G with a BN-pair of rank n or its Weyl group W. If \(\{w_ 1,w_ 2,...,w_ n\}\) is the set of fundamental reflections of W, for each \(J\subseteq R=\{1,2,...,n\}\) let \(X^{(j)}\) denote the parabolic subgroup \(W_ J\) of W generated be the \(w_ j\), \(j\in J\), or the corresponding parabolic subgroup \(G_ J\) of G. Let \(\theta\) denote the Coxeter complex when \(X=W\), or the Tits complex when \(X=G\), so that \(\theta\) has vertices of the form \(xX^{(i)}\), \(x\in X\), \(i\in R\). If \(J\subseteq R\) let \(\theta_ J\) be the truncated complex, i.e. the subcomplex \(\theta\) spanned by vertices of the form \(xX^{(j)}\), \(x\in X\), \(j\in J\). The ith reduced homology group \(\tilde H_ i(\theta_ J)=0\) unless \(i=| J| -1\). The aim of this paper is to find the irreducible submodules of the X-module \(\tilde H_ r(\theta_ J)\) (where \(r=| J| -1)\) in the case when X is of type \(B_ n\) and \(J=\{k,k+1,...,n\}\) for some k. The author constructs these submodules, thus producing \(n(n+1)\) irreducible X-modules, by finding the primitive idempotents of the endomorphism algebra \(E_ J=End_ X(\tilde H_ r(\theta_ J))\). A result of \textit{R. P. Stanley} which gives the irreducible constituents of the character of the module \(\tilde H_ r(\theta_ J)\) [J. Comb. Theory, Ser. A 32, 132-161 (1982; Zbl 0496.06001)] is used in the proof.
