A fuzzy-logical analysis of the structure of inferences in expert systems is presented and cluster-analytic techniques for its representation are discussed. The optimum trade-off determination and hypotheses comparison is done by an information-theoretic measure suggested in the paper. The theoretical conclusions and methods are illustrated by numerical examples.
