Let M be a free Lie algebra, on at least two generators, over a commutative integral domain R. The author shows that the elementary theory Th(M) (in the language of Lie algebras) is unstable and has the strict order property. This latter result is achieved by showing how one can interpret initial segments of Presburger Arithmetic in M.
