Asymptotic formulae for the number of ways an integer can be expressed as a sum of seven cubes and eight cubes of non-negative integers are obtained under a Riemann hypothesis assumption for a Hasse-Weil L- function. Related representation results, such as an improved estimate for the exceptional set of integers not expressible as a sum of four squares and asymptotic formulae for integers expressible as sums of a square and cubes, are obtained under the same hypothesis. The approach is on the lines of the classical circle method but some interesting refinements and modifications are employed.
