Black box multigrid was developed by the author as an automatic multigrid scheme for solving scalar partial differential equations already discretized on logically rectangular grids. The purpose of the present paper is to extend this technique to systems. The development starts with the nonstaggered grid case where the algorithm is straight-forward and effective. The author then considers the case of staggered grids for which the approach considered is not very satisfactory. Numerical results are presented demonstrating the performance of these approaches.
