A partial reduction of the Hamilton equations for the phenomenological ECSK theory and for the ECSK theory coupled to a covector matter field and the generalized Maxwell fields and Fermi-Dirac electromagnetic fields is achieved. The 12 quantities used to describe the geometry of space- time is neatly divided into two sets: the first containing two canonical variables which evolve in time according to the dynamical equations and the second containing ten gauge variables which can be given arbitrary values. ECSK is an abbreviation for Einstein-Cartan-Kibble-Sciama and in the ECSK theory the field equations take the form \(K_ i^{\mu}R^{ij}_{\mu \nu}=0\), where \(K_ i^{\mu}\) are the (inverse) tetrad field or gauge potentials associated with local translations and \(R^{ij}_{\mu \nu}\) are the components of the Riemann curvature tensor in a local Lorentz basis.
