A differential-difference equation of neutral type \(\sum^{k}_{\ell =0}\sum^{n}_{j=0}a_{ij}x^{(\ell)}(t-h_ j)=0,\) where \(0=h_ 0<h_ 1<...<h_ n=h\), \(a_{k0}=1\), is considered. It is known that \(W=W^ k_ 2(-h,0)\) is a direct sum of two subspaces \(W_+\) and \(W_- \) such that if for some solution its trajectory belongs for the initial time to some of them it stays there and exponentially decreases in the sense of norm in W for time increasing in the case of \(W_+\) and decreasing in the case of \(W_-\). It is shown that some system of trajectories of elementary solutions is a Riesz basis in \(W_-\) in the sense of metric in W.
