This is a very informative comprehensive paper. For an arbitrary connected semisimple Lie group G the relative discrete series plays a role analogous to that of discrete series in decomposing \(L_ 2(G)\). If G has infinite center then the matrix coefficients of the relative discrete series form continuous families of representations, and it is necessary to form wave packets of matrix coefficients along the continuous parameter, analogous to those defined by Harish-Chandra for principal series representations, to obtain Schwartz class functions. In this paper the authors construct these wave packets for holomorphic relative discrete series of the simply connected, simple Lie groups of Hermitian type and show that they are Schwartz functions, in fact, cusp forms. The authors indicate that they intend to publish a second paper (see the following review) where they define wave packets for the non-holomorphic relative discrete series. The basic references in the paper are \textit{Harish-Chandra} [ibid. 19, 104-204 (1975; Zbl 0315.43002)] and the authors' paper [Compos. Math. 58, 73-110 (1986; Zbl 0587.22006)].
