    The author solves independently the equations \[ 1/\theta (x)\theta (y)=(\psi (x)-\psi (y)+\phi (x-y))/\theta (x-y)\quad and \] \[ 1/\theta (x)\theta (y)=\sigma (x)-\sigma (y)/\theta (x-y)+\tau (x)\tau (y),\quad \tau (0)=0, \] where \(\theta\) : (-a,a)\(\subset R\to C\) is three times differentiable, \(\tau\) : (-a,a)\(\to C\) is twice differentiable and \(\phi\) : (-a,a)\(\to C\) and \(\sigma\),\(\psi\) : (-a,a)\(\setminus \{0\}\to C\) are only differentiable. In both cases it is shown that \(\theta^{'2}=a\theta ''+b\theta^ 2+c\). Moreover the author gives estimates for the spectral radius of a matrix of type \((1/\theta (x_ r- x_ s))'\) (the accent means that the coefficients on the main diagonal are zero).
