Inequalities for the Schatten p-norm. V (Q1092390): Difference between revisions

For positive operators A, B on a Hilbert space H and an operator monotone function f on (0,\(\infty)\), the following inequalities are proved: (1) When \(\lim_{s\to 0^+}f(s)=0\), \(\| f(A)-f(B)\| \leq f(\| A-B\|).\) (2) If \(A\geq a\geq 0\) and \(B\geq b\geq 0\), then for any operator X on H, \[ \| f(A)X-Xf(B)\|_ p\leq C(a,b)\| AX-XB\|_ p, \] where \(1\leq p\leq \infty\) and \(C(a,b)=\frac{f(a)-f(b)}{a-b}\) if \(a\neq b\), and \(=f'(a)\) if \(a=b\).
