The stabilization problem for the second Fornasini-Marchesini single- input multi-output) (multi-input single-output) model by an output feedback 2-D controller is formulated and solved. It is shown that the model is stabilizable with a degree of stability \(\rho\) if and only if it is \(\rho\)-detectable and \(\rho\)-stabilizable. A procedure for finding a stabilizing controller is presented and illustrated by a numerical example.
