This paper discusses the stabilizability by smooth feedback of the angular velocity of a rigid body. First we show has to asymptotically stabilize the system with a single control. Then it is shown that a single control aligned with a principal axis cannot asymptotically stabilize the system. Finally we present some new results on stabilization by means of scalar feedback control.
