\textit{K. Benabdallah} and the reviewer [Abelian group theory, Proc. Conf., Honolulu 1983, Lect. Notes Math. 1006, 556-561 (1983; Zbl 0522.20035)] introduced the notion of straight basis into the structure theory of abelian p-groups in order to use it as a new tool for the researches of these groups. In the present paper, the author utilizes this notion to finite Abelian groups and their dual groups, and obtains a factorization theorem of nonsingular integer matrices, which is an analogue of the transformation to Jordan normal form.
