This paper is a sort of continuation of \textit{G. Dore} and the author [Lect. Notes Math. 1223, 92-101 (1986; Zbl 0619.34060)]. Consider the abstract singular evolution equation \(tu'(t)-\Lambda (t)u(t)=f(t),t\) in [0,T], in a complex Banach space E. Define \[ X_ k=C^ k([0,T];E),\quad D(A)=\{u\in X_ k| \quad tu'\in X_ k\},\quad Au(t)=tu'(t), \] \[ D(B)=\{u\in X_ k| \quad u(t)\in D(\Lambda (t))\quad \forall t\in [0,T],\quad t\to \Lambda (t)u(t)\in X_ k\},\quad Bu(t)=\Lambda (t)u(t). \] If the operators \(\Lambda\) (t) satisfy suitable conditions of Kato-Tanabe type and depend regularly on t, the equation has a unique strong solution (in the sense of Friedrichs) in \(X_ k\) for every \(f\in X_ k\). The assumptions require neither the constancy of D(\(\Lambda\) (t)) nor the density of the domains in E. Under suitable conditions on f, it is shown that the solution is strict, that is, it belongs to D(A)\(\cap D(B)\). Finally a definition of weak solution is given and conditions assuring the coincidence of strong and weak solutions are studied.
