    The author observes that some results of \textit{J. Blatter} and \textit{L. Schumaker} [J. ibid. 36, 141-155 (1982; Zbl 0493.41030)] on continuous selections for metric projection in C(T), remain valid under a hypothesis weaker than the continuity of the selection. Using these results, the author proves a conjecture of \textit{F. Deutsch} and \textit{P. Kenderov} [SIAM J. Math. Anal. 14, 185-194 (1983; Zbl 0518.41031)]: The metric projection P in C(T) onto an n-dimensional subspace admits a continuous selection iff P is \((n+1)\)-lower semicontinuous. A mapping \(F: X\to 2\quad Y,\) X is a topological space and Y a metric space, is called n- lower semicontinuous at \(x_ 0\) if for every \(\epsilon >0\) there exists a neighbourhood U of \(x_ 0\) such that \(\cap^{n}_{i=1}B_{\epsilon}(F(x_ i))\neq \emptyset\) for each choice of n-points \(x_ 1,...,x_ n\in U\), where \(B_{\epsilon}(A)=\{y\in Y:d(y,A)<\epsilon \}\).
