The author discusses difficulties encountered in trying to find the mean and autocorrelation of the solution of a random integral equation using an iterative method. Some successful alternative approaches may be found in Random integral equations with applications to life sciences and engineering (1971; Zbl 0225.60029) by \textit{C. P. Tsokos} and \textit{W. J. Padgett}, Approximate soluton of random equations (1979; Zbl 0416.00013) edited by \textit{A. T. Bharucha-Reid}, Nonlinear stochastic systems in physics and mechanics (1987; Zbl 0623.60084)\(by\) \textit{N. Bellomo} and \textit{R. Riganti}, as well as some of the references cited therein.
