A second-order conservative rezoning algorithm for generalized two- dimensional meshes has recently been described by \textit{J. K. Dukowicz} and \textit{J. W. Kodis} [SIAM J. Sci. Stat. Comput. 8, 305-321 (1987)]. Here it is shown that this algorithm can be simplified by a different and more symmetrical choice of the flux vector F whose divergence is the cell density. The resulting formulation is the natural second-order generalization of the simplified first-order algorithm described earlier by the author (J. Comput. Phys. 59, 193-199 (1985)].
