The author first considers scalar semilinear elliptic equations in \({\mathbb{R}}^ 3\), the nonlinearity being of polynomial type. He shows that their solutions are unstable when considered as equilibria of related evolution equations. This is further extended to weakly coupled gradient systems as well as to more general nonlinearities or half space domain.
