A theory of high speed tube drawing with floating plug, using a viscoplastic constitutive equation of Bingham type, is considered. A formula for the drawing stress involving various parameters of the process is established. The optimum shape of the floating plug, assumed to be in an advanced equilibrium position, is obtained. Several numerical examples are given.
