Let X be a completely regular Hausdorff space. Then it is proved that the ring of continuous real valued functions, C(X), is a PF-ring iff for any two nonzeros f,g\(\in C(X)\), \(X\setminus Z(f)\) and \(X\setminus Z(g)\) are completely separated whenever \(fg=0\), and so C(X) is a PF-ring iff X is an F-space. Then we prove that C(X) is PP-ring iff for any nonzero \(f\in C(X)\), there exists \(g\in C(X)\) such that \(fg=0\), Z(g) is open, \(Int(Z(f)\cap Z(g))=\emptyset\), and \(X\setminus Z(f)\), \(X\setminus Z(g)\) are completely separated. Finally, we show that C(X) is a Baer ring iff X is basically disconnected in which the union of any collection of clopen sets is clopen.
