    Let \(S^ m_{\ell}({\mathfrak r})=r^{\ell}Y^ m_{\ell}(\theta,\phi)\) and \(Z^ m_{\ell}({\mathfrak r})=r^{-\ell -1}Y^ m_{\ell}(\theta,\phi)\) denote the regular and irregular solid spherical harmonics, respectively. A new proof of the addition theorem for the irregular solid spherical harmonics \(Z^ m_{\ell}({\mathfrak r})\), i.e., \[ Z^ M_ L({\mathfrak r}_ 1+{\mathfrak r}_ 2)=(4\pi)^{1/2}\sum^{\infty}_{\ell =0}\left( \begin{matrix} 2\ell +2L\\ 2\ell \end{matrix} \right)^{1/2}(2\ell +1)^{-}[Z_{\ell +L}({\mathfrak r}_ 1)\otimes S_{\ell}({\mathfrak r}_ 2)]^ M_ L, \] where \({\mathfrak r}_ 1>{\mathfrak r}_ 2\) and \[ [U_{k_ 1}\otimes V_{k_ 2}]^ q_ k\quad =\sum_{q_ 1,q_ 2}U^{q_ 1}_{k_ 1} V^{q_ 2}_{k_ 2}<k_ 1q_ 1,k_ 2q_ 2| kq> \] is obtained by starting from Laplace's integral formula for the associated Legendre polynomials and using only basic facts from the theory of Legendre polynomials and irreducible tensors.
