Studying PI-algebras over a field of characteristic 0, \textit{A. R. Kremer} [Math. USSR, Izv. 25, 359--374 (1985); translation from Izv. Akad. Nauk SSSR, Ser. Mat. 48, No. 5, 1042--1059 (1984; Zbl 0586.16010)] and \textit{A. Berele} [Isr. J. Math. 51, 13--19 (1985; Zbl 0581.16015)] have introduced the technique of \(\mathbb Z_ 2\)-graded algebras which is a powerful tool for a quantitative investigation of polynomial identities. In the paper under review the author defines \(\mathbb Z_ 2\)-graded cocharacters for \(\mathbb Z_ 2\)-graded algebras with graded identities. He relates these cocharacters to the ordinary cocharacters and uses them for studying graded tensor products. As an application of the method he establishes the relation between a graded version of the Capelli identities and the restrictions on the irreducible components of the cocharacters obtained by \textit{S. A. Amitsur} and \textit{A. Regev} [J. Algebra 78, 248--254 (1982; Zbl 0495.16014)].
