It is proved that given any integers \(d>4n\) and \(n>1\), there exist integers \(a_ 1,...,a_ n\) relatively prime to d such that \[ \| ka_ 1/d\|... \| ka_ n/d\| >4^{-n}(\phi (d)/d)\quad n(d \log^{n-1}d)^{-\quad 1} \] for each k, \(1\leq k<d\) \((\| x\| =\) distance from x to the nearest integer). This result is shown to imply a weaker form of the conjecture that for any \(d>1\) there is an a such that a/d has a continued fraction with all partial quotients \(\leq\) some absolute constant B. A generalized version of this conjecture is stated.
