Let A be a linear operator on the n-dimension unitary space V. The k-th higher numerical range \(W_ k(A)\) of A is the set \(\{\) tr(PAP)\(| P\) runs over all k-dimensional orthogonal projections on \(V\}\). The author proves that \(W_ k(A)\) is a polygon with the axis as a line of symmetry for \(k=1,...,n\), if and only if A is normal with a real characteristic polynomial.
