A fairly substantial theory of Lie semigroups (infinitesimally generated subsemigroups of Lie groups) has been developed in the last decade. In this paper the author considers the maximal topological semigroup compactification, called the Bohr compactification, for such semigroups. After some appropriate tools for such a study are developed, the Bohr compactifications of basic examples of Lie semigroups in dimensions two and three are explicitly worked out. These examples serve to illustrate the variety of behavior that can arise in this setting.
