Let S be a finite semigroup generated by a finite set of generators \(A\subseteq S\). Denote with \(\hat S^+_ A\) the projective limit of the chain of surjective morphisms \(...\twoheadrightarrow S_ 1\twoheadrightarrow S_ 0\twoheadrightarrow S\), where \(S_ 0=\hat S^ L_ A\), \(S_{k+1}=\hat S^ R_ k\) for k even and \(S_{k+1}=\hat S^ L_ k\) for k odd. A short proof of the following result of \textit{J.-C. Birget}'s is given: \(\hat S^+_ A\) is finite if S is finite.
