The paper deals with two-dimensional elastic wave equations and the problem of artificial boundary conditions, which are used for construction of finite-difference schemes. Three different methods for derivation of the radiating boundary conditions are presented, one of which gives the exact absorbing boundary conditions for both the transversal and longitudinal waves generated from a surface source. From this, the approximate boundary conditions are derived.
