Exponential decay estimates for solutions of the von Kármán equations on a semi-infinite strip (Q1114469): Difference between revisions

This interesting paper uses energy methods to obtain a nonlinear integrodifferential inequality for an energy functional E(z) for the von Kármán system in the strip \(R_ z=\{(x,y)\); \(z<x<+\infty\), \(- 1<y<1\}\), \(z\geq 0\). Then some comparison theorems give two results on the exponential decay rate K for E(z) as \(z\to +\infty\). In contrast with the estimated decay rate k for the linearized problem, K depends on the boundary data at the end \(x=0\).
