Given a stable polynomial or matrix, we consider a class of unidirectional perturbations. In this note, we provide a closed form for the maximal perturbation bounds under which stability is preserved. The results are then used to derive a closed form for the maximal stability box around the coefficients of a nominally stable polynomial.
