The dual of a subnormal operator was introduced by \textit{J. B. Conway} [J. Oper. Theory 5, 195-211 (1981; Zbl 0469.47020)]. This paper is concerned with the duals of subnormal tuples. The main emphasis is on discussing the interdependence of the Fredholm properties of a subnormal tuple S, its minimal normal extension and the dual T of S. Many proofs are based on the results and the several variables machinery developed by \textit{R. E. Curto} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 266, 129-159 (1981; Zbl 0457.47017)]. Some interesting examples are also discussed.
