The author considers the transfer and reflection of photons in an inhomogeneous and isotropic turbid slab bounded below by a hybrid of diffuse and specular reflectors. Modelling the radiative transfer by an appropriate Markov process, he directly derives the Riccati-type nonlinear integrodifferential Cauchy system for the scattering function of the radiation from a modified Chapman-Kolmogorov equation.
