For a function f in H let \(\| f\|\) denote the maximum of its absolute value on the unit circle and for \(0\leq t\leq 2\pi\) put \(g(t)=\log (| f(t)| /\| f\|)/2.\) Let \(f(z)=a_ 0+a_ 1+...\), let \(d>0\) and assume that \[ | a_ 0| +| a_ 1| \leq d\| f\|. \] The author shows that if \(c<0\) is the unique solution of the equation \(e^ c(1-2c)=d\), then the integral of g(t) over the interval [0,2\(\pi\) ] exceeds c and this evaluation is best possible. This result is related to a generalization of Jensen's inequality in the case of polynomials obtained by the author and \textit{P. Enflo} [J. Number Theory 21, 390-412 (1985; Zbl 0578.30004)].
