The author constructs the level one vertex representations of the quantum universal enveloping algebra \(U_ q(B_ r^{(1)})\) of the affine Lie algebra of type \(B_ r^{(1)}\). For an affine Kac-Moody Lie algebra \({\mathfrak g}\), the quantum universal enveloping algebra (quantum affine algebra) \(U_ q({\mathfrak g})\) was introduced by V. G. Drinfel'd and M. Jimbo as a q-deformation of the universal enveloping algebra U(\({\mathfrak g})\). \textit{I. B. Frenkel} and \textit{N. Jing} [Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. Beside a q-deformed bosonic vertex operator for each simple root, obtained by Frenkel and Jing (op. cit), in the present paper the author provides a q-deformed fermionic field which is involved in the vertex operator for the short simple root. They satisfy the operator product expansions, expressing commutation or anti-commutation relations. The vertex operator for \(U_ q(B_ r^{(1)})\) is constructed by glueing the bosonic and fermionic vertex operators, and the cocycles as usual.
