Let X be a normal affine domain over an algebraically closed field and \(A_ 0(X)\) the Chow group of 0-cycles defined as the quotient of the free abelian group on the smooth points of X modulo the group generated by cycles of the form \((f)_ C\) where \(C\subset X\) is an irreducible curve with \(C\cap X_{\sin g}=\emptyset\). There is a natural surjection \(\psi: A_ 0(X)\to F_ 0K_ 0(X)\) where \(F_ 0K_ 0(X)\) is the subgroup of the Grothendieck group of vector bundles generated by the classes of smooth points. In this paper the author extends, in any characteristic, results of \textit{M. Levine} [Am. J. Math. 107, 737-757 (1985; Zbl 0579.14007)] as follows: (1) If dim \(X\geq 3\) then \(A_ 0(X)\) is torsion free; and (2) In any dimension \(\psi: A_ 0(X)\to F_ 0K_ 0(X)\) is an isomorphism.
