Some localization results for the eigenvalues of real symmetric and positive semi-definite matrices A of order n are given. Among others it is shown that all eigenvalues of a real symmetric A lie in an interval described in terms of the arithmetic mean and the standard deviation of the eigenvalues. Conditions are given which ensure that at most k eigenvalues are above the arithmetic mean.
